From an interview with Angus Boutillier of Centreville
Q. What would your daily chores be like at home?
A. Well I took over, I don’t remember just how old I was when I took over the barn but I milked the cows, feed the livestock, feed the pigs, feed the chickens and those things before I walked a mile to school so I had quite a morning and when I got home at night I gad chores to do over again and that meant carrying in the wood and cutting kindling and doing the barn work again.
Q. What would it be like to do all that barn work in the morning and then have to walk to school?
A. Well we didn’t know any difference so we didn’t mind. We thought that was just part of the day.
